We are pleased to ann ounce that Charles Bruce, M.D., has accepted the role of Assistant Medical Director, Department of Business Development.
The Department of Business Development was formed through a merger of Mayo Clinic Ventures and the Office of Business Development in 2016. The unified department leads the full range of business development activities for Mayo Clinic, including technology development and commercialization, and corporate development activities including strategic partnerships, joint ventures and acquisitions all for the benefit of patients worldwide and to generate revenue to support Mayo’s mission.
Dr. Bruce has been a consultant in the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases since 2001. He is a professor of medicine in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. Dr. Bruce currently serves as the Associate Medical Director of Mayo Clinic Venture in Jacksonville, FL, the Director of Business Development – Mayo Clinic Center for Regenerative Medicine in Jacksonville, FL, the Medical Director – Mayo Clinic Innovation Exchange in Jacksonville, FL and the Chief Innovation Officer at Mayo Clinic in Florida. A passionate inventor, Dr. Bruce has successfully developed multiple technologies positively impacting patient care.
Dr. Bruce joins the executive leadership team that includes Clark Otley, M.D., Medical Director, Department of Business Development, Jim Rogers, Chief Business Development Officer, Andy Danielsen, Chair of Mayo Clinic Ventures, and Pat Leon, Vice Chair of Corporate Development.
As Assistant Medical Director, Department of Business Development, Dr. Bruce will partner with the department and our numerous internal and external stakeholders to commercialize technologies across the health care spectrum, advance Mayo’s strategic plans through corporate development activities, and provide revenue back to advance the Mayo mission.
