Who We Are

Mayo Clinic Ventures is dedicated to quickly bringing answers to the people who need them most: the patients living with diseases and conditions that threaten to limit or even end their lives. Our team works closely with Mayo physicians and scientists to mine inventions, ideas and discoveries that will truly transform health care. Their dedicated efforts bring significant financial support to Mayo's patient care, education and research efforts.

We do this by serving as a bridge between discoveries and the marketplace. Our technology licensing managers have extensive experience in science, technology-based ventures, patent law, product licensing, and start-up companies.

Inside Our Window of Intellectual Property and Technology Commercialization
Mayo Clinic Ventures receives approximately one invention disclosure each day. Our office boasts more than 180 years of collective licensing and commercialization experience. Active technology files and licensing agreements with commercial industry in the fields of biomedical engineering, imaging, personalized medicine, medical devices, investigational new drugs, diagnostics, therapeutics, and focused efforts in technology-based ventures and start-ups.

Our future
As we move toward a quarter of a century in business, Mayo Clinic Ventures continues fulfilling Mayo's mission. Nearly half of all invention disclosures in Mayo Clinic Ventures become patented products or technologies that are improving the health and well-being of patients throughout the world.

William Mayo
"In America our idealism is not unusual, nor does it differ much from that of the medical faculty of other countries; it is in our capacity for translating idealism into action."
